Veterans Care: Pension with Aid & Attendance
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has a special benefit for Veterans and surviving spouses that require regular assistance with activities of daily living. This assistance may help to defray costs for care.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has established guidelines for honorably discharged veterans and their surviving spouses applying for the Pension with Aid and Attendance benefit.
- 90 days or more of active duty, with at least one day of service during a wartime period.
- Must have a medical condition which requires assistance with activities of daily living that is not related to military service.
- Meet income-to-medical expense ratio
- Must meet asset requirement.
